Melissa started early in the real estate industry with a nationally recognized multi-family development interest in Michigan, Village Green Property Management, known for progressive properties and services where she launched the startup Village Suites, a hospitality brand trailblazing the luxury short-term rental sector. Melissa is a Michigan native and MSU Graduate with a real estate passion sparked by entrepreneurial parents at an early age. Her childhood was spent exploring beaches, land, and vistas of Leelanau County with 4 family generations resorting, residing, and running businesses in Leelanau County and Traverse City.
Melissa brings extensive sales and business development experience spanning commercial interiors, real estate, architecture, design, and construction. From Director of Leasing for new Developments at Village Green to commercial real estate and interiors to dealer and global sales leader for Miller Knoll and Haworth in San Francisco. She also led enterprise sales for McGraw-Hill’s Construction and Architectural services heading best-in-class brands such as Architectural Record/ENR, SWEETS, Dodge Data Analytics.
In San Francisco, Melissa managed a multi-unit property on Potrero Hill the neighborhood now home to Airbnb HQ. This expanded to property management for ski lease rentals in Lake Tahoe and the Pacific Northwest. She has lived and managed businesses in San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, and Orange County.
After purchasing a 130-year-old Leland Cottage at 1st & Pearl streets in 2003, Melissa established a bespoke vacation rental services business and brand Manitou Life, LLC. By combining experience in travel, interiors, architecture, and real estate, she developed personalized services for an exclusive portfolio of vacation rental properties.
Melissa, her husband, daughter, 2 dogs, and a horse split LIFE between Northern Michigan’s Leelanau County and the Colorado Rockies.
